Job Overview
The Senior Database Geologist supports the Chief Database Geo-scientist in implementing database customization, improving data import procedures, and ensuring the integrity of exploration data. This role involves training users, performing quality control, and integrating data management with exploration workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Data Management
- Perform quality control checks on exploration data to ensure adherence to QA/QC protocols and industry best practices.
- Maintain and enhance data integrity across geological databases (e.g., Fusion, DataShed, or Acquire).
- Ensure seamless accessibility and usability of geological data for exploration teams.
- Utilize SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, and Python for database management and automation.
- Apply big data analytics tools and BI visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) for data insights (preferred).
- Support 3D geological modeling (Leapfrog preferred) and GIS mapping (ArcGIS/QGIS).
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Expertise in SQL and database management (Fusion, Acquire, or DataShed).
- Python scripting for data processing (advantageous).
- Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and big data analytics.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling (Leapfrog) and GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS).

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology (MSc in Geoscience preferred).
- 5+ years in mineral exploration/development, with 3+ years in geological database management.
- Familiarity with exploration principles and data QA/QC.
