About the Role
In this vital role, successful candidate will be ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy and contributes significantly to patient care and service quality. You will work closely with the pharmacist to support the day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Pharmacy assistant shall support the Pharmacists by performing clerical duties, managing inventory, and providing customer service in a pharmacy setting, in the following areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Pharmacists: help pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications and provide advice to customers under the pharmacist’s supervision. He/She shall ensure that medications are accurately prepared and labeled.
- Price Management: Uphold the highest standards of customer service and satisfaction in a professional manner and also provide accurate information on product features, benefits, and retail prices.
- Inventory Management: Shall be responsible for managing and organizing inventory, which includes receiving, stocking, and rotating medications and healthcare products and ensuring that first-expiry-first-out (FEFO). This also involves alerting pharmacists about stock shortages and management of expiry dates.
- Customer Service: ThePharmacy assistant shall interact with customers, answering inquiries, addressing concerns, and providing information on over-the-counter medications and health topics.
- Administrative Duties: They perform various clerical tasks such as managing the cash register, processing payments, maintaining patient records, and ensuring confidentiality.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensuring that the pharmacy environment is clean and organized, adhering to infection control policies and safety protocols is also part of their responsibilities.
- Work Environment: The Pharmacy assistants must be prepared to work in in other areas where the company operates. Their work may involve evening and weekend hours depending on the pharmacy’s operating schedule.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a WASSCE/SSSCE certificate. Additional training in Sales, Customer Service, or a health-related field (e.g., Certificate in Community Health) is a strong advantage.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and healthcare professionals.
- Attention to Detail: Pharmacy assistants must pay close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medication dispensing and record-keeping.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using computer systems for prescription processing and inventory management.
- Customer Service Orientation: A caring attitude and the ability to handle customer inquiries and concerns effectively are crucial.
- Must be a resident of Tarkwa.
